My First Kit Page

Well, this is my first page with my Serendipity Kit. I am sorry for the poor photo. I cannot figure out how to get a good picture of it.
I used the Autumn Leaves plastic letters for the T and F and my big deal alphabet for the rest. The doodles were made with a Crafters Workshop template and a sharpie paint pen that I got from Serendipity also. There are tiny gemstones around the circle picture.
This was loads of fun. I am so excited to make more stuff!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!!

Run, don't walk!

Run to the nearest newstand or magazine rack. I can't believe it! I just picked up the September copy of Cards and my friend Kirsten has 6 cards in it! Way to go Kirsten! Great job! If you grab a copy, her cards are on pages 74, 77, 140, 141, 145, and 150. Now that I have drooled all over her cards I will go back and look at all the other pretty cards in there. Kudos to all who are in there but mostly to Kirsten, because she's my friend!

Dollar Bin Treasures!

I love the dollar bin. Who doesn't!? I mean, really, can anyone have enough ribbon when it only costs a dollar?

Since dollar bins are so popular these days, I am going to start adding little things I find and alter. I do that anyway, but now I am giving the posts a name. They will be labeled "Dollar Bin Treasures.

These are some cards that I found at Michaels. They were on clearance for $1.00. Each package has 10 cards and envelopes. How can ya beat that deal!? So, I am covering them with some patterned paper and other scraps that coordinate with the cards original colors.

Normally, I would add more to the cards as well as a stamped image and some words but these cards are for the worship leader at the church I just started going to. He wanted them to be plain and versatile. He sends them to people from the church and wants to add his own message.

I am sure he will like them just fine.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my Dollar Bin Treasures! Have a great day!

Table Scraps!

This is something new that I am going to start doing on my blog. I am always making lots of stuff with my "table scraps". I am an avid collector of scraps. So much that my friends tend to poke fun at it. I'm cool with that. I have fun with it and I am always trying to find ways to use up what others might throw away.

For instance, these are the empty containers that flowers come in. One day, while playing in my room, I saw these as being fun frames. So, I got to work, cutting paper finding pictures and just plain having fun with stuff.

This one has a lovely picture of me in my pirate costume. For Maggie's 5th Birthday, we had a Pirate Party and I was appointed official Pirate Leader for the festivities. LOL! What a blast! I added beads in the raised area where the flowers were and I used my Crop-A-Dile to put eyelets in the corners so it won't come apart. On the back of the paper, I wrote a note about the event. I am sure she will play with it for years to come.

Thanks for stopping by for some Table Scraps. Have a scrappy day!

A CASE from Scrap This!

I have been watching this girls blog for a while now and I LOVE her work. Her blog is Scrap This! You HAVE to go check her out. She does awesome cards and pages. I have a bunch of her stuff starred on my Google Reader to try someday. But, when I saw this card, I just had to make one. I hope she thinks I did her work justice. I don't know who I will be sending this card to but they will have to be special! LOL!

Getting ready for Halloween

I am so sorry I have not posted for a while. I have been a very busy girl with Michaels Crafts stuff.

Look at these cool spooky rub-ons I got at Michaels. They are only $1.00 and they are so cool. They are glittery and shiny and you get 3 labels in the package. They have lots more styles too! So, I just had to make a card with one, since all the cool kids are makin' Halloween cards.

How about this cute little wooden house I found at Michaels and covered it with patterned paper. I couldn't get to the inside and it was real noticeable so I stuffed it with shredded paper. My DH wants to cut a hole in the back so we can put one of those fake tea lights in it. That would be cool.

Thanks for stoppin' by for a spooky little HI! Have a great day!

Havin' A MIMI Moment!

That's when I come up with something that I think will knock your sox off!

Well, ya know thos cheapo poster frames that you can buy that have the pop-off frame sticks all around them?

Well, I have been known to buy them and cut them down to size for other size posters and such.

While cleaning this morning I came across remnants of one that I had cut down and decided to cut a replacement frame front for a piece of glass that got broke on a frame for Maggie.

While doing that, the light came on! Why can't I cut this into smaller pieces to make one of those cool clear scrapbooks that everyone is making these days!? By everyone, I am referring to the cool kids again. {insert snicker here} Is this all becoming clear!? LOL! Pun, totally intended! Here is a pic of one of the pieces I cut and stamped with pink Opaque StazOn. Wow! This ROCKS! Go Mimi! Go Mimi! Go Mimi!

Thanks for stopping by to check it out! Have a great day!

Kickin' It Up!

Here's a kickstand card I made for a friend who is in the hospital and I want to cheer her up. This is one of Kirsten's designs and I just had to try it! I love it! And besides, all the cool kids are doin' it!
Sorry for the lighting.
Thanks for stopping by to kick it up with me!

A forgotten card

I forgot all about this card. I made it last week at Kirsten's. I used some paper by Making Memories, Fun and Fast Notes and one of Kirsten's sets. Just quick and cute!

A Gift for a Dear Friend

I have found a truely amazing blog called Mugsy Boo. This girl totally ROCKS! I love, love, love her artwork and amazing photography of her pugs. You MUST go check her out!!! Anyhoo, I turned my friend, Leslie, on to her blog because she is a pug pal too! Once she saw this blog and this sign, she called me to request that I make one for her. Leslie has done sooo much for me over the years that we have been friends that I was happy to do this for her. Here is my version of the sign with a picture of Leslie's pug, Nora. I hope I did it justice.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Have a pugariffic day! LOL!

What makes you happy?

My Blogger Friend, Vicki Christman, says it perfect with the title of her blog, "This Art That Makes Me Happy". This art really does make me happy. I love taking altered journeys with my crafts. This is an album that I made with a Band-Aid tin that I have had forever! I covered it with papers designed by Marah Johnson. She is my favorite artist, right now. Go check her out! Each little chipboard page takes me down a magical little path of memories.

Page 1 is Rick and Katie and I approx. 11 years ago. Page 2 is a recent photo of me taken by my friend, Milissa. Page 3 is Katie, approx. 11 years ago. Page 4 is my silly Maggie. Page 5 is just pretty. Page 6 is the man who makes it all possible. My dear hubby and best friend, Rick. Page 7 is a recent picture of Katie and her best friend Emily. And, page 8 is Maggie at her 6th B-Day party.
Thanks for taking this little journey with me. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

"Hip Deep" in projects

I am having so much fun making new projects for Michaels classes! You can tell by how messy my room is. Remember back on April 23 when I showed you my clean Rubber Room? Well, It aint so no mo! LOL! Look at the piles of paper and stickers, mod Podge and Gesso, pop dots and more. So much more than I can list. It's like a happy pig rolling around in the mud. I make a space on my desk, just big enough to work. Sadly, this is when I am at my happiest and most productive. I think I will HAVE to clean up at the end of the day though because I can only stand it like this for so long!

Why are these sooo expensive?!

I see the Heidi Swapp ghosts in the stores and wonder why they are so expensive. They are just plastic that is cut into shapes. Ahh, yes, they have Her name on them and not mine. Now it all becomes clear! No pun intended! LOL!

Well, here's my version.

I make them from TRASH!

That's right, the packaging to other goodies is great material for these little cuties!

First, I cut them apart so they are flat and will fit in my sidekick or Cuttlebug.

Then, I choose a die cut that I want to use and send it through!

Voila! Ghosties! Mimi style!

I like to add some sharpie colors to them to give 'em some punch!

I think you could also use alcohol inks.

Thanks for stoppin' by for a ghostie HI!

Christmas in August!

My friends wanted me to make up some Christmas cards for them so we could have a class. These are 3 of the designs I am going to offer them.

The first one uses Cold Play and Shore Thing to get a Florida style snowman. I thought they would enjoy the humor of it.

The second one uses Merry and an alphabet. I stamped the snowflakes on acetate with white StazOn. Love that stuff! I layered it with dimensionals on Bashful blue that was embossed with the Cuttlebug and snowflake folder. I think it turned out cute!

Next is one I CASED but changed the stamps. I saw this card by Linda McClain at LMacs Catered Crops and I fell in Love with it's simplicity in design. She does some awesome work over there!

I'll let you know when I come up with the others. I usually try to offer them 5 choices. Thanks for stoppin' by. Have a fun day!

I'm Nobody's Sidekick!

I love that saying! I saw it on a sticker or something, while shopping on Friday. I couldn't get it out of my head! So, here is what I did with it. I have a ton of these cd tins and decided to make a mini book. These photos are a couple years old but they are among some of my favorites of Maggie and her spirit. I may do this as a class at Michaels. Not sure.

Speaking of Michaels, I know I haven't said anything since last week but, all is going good. They really like my style and use of products. I am going to have to talk with whoever orders the paper though, they could use a little help. Anyhoo, I think the events coordinator is going to put something in the local paper's Community Calendar about me and my classes! Woo Hoo! That may help draw people in. Ya nevah no!

Has it really been a week?

Oh my goodness. I can't believe I have neglected my blog for a week. I have been busy, busy.

I had to take a friend to the airport yesterday. So, I thought, if I have to take a 2 hour drive, I'm gonna make it worthwhile. So, I asked another friend, Melissa E., to come along and we shopped at one of my FAVORITE scrapbook stores in St. Petersburg, FL.

The name is Whim-so-Doodle. They just moved to a new HUGE location. I was in heaven! In fact, I was so excited to be there that I neglected to put money in the parking meter and got a $17.50 parking ticket! Argh!!!

Then, we went to lunch at the Lucky Dill Deli, YUM!

By that time we needed to get Paula to the airport.

After that, it was time to finally go to Ruban Rouge. I had never been here but had heard many thing about them. What yummy things they had inside and the ladies were very nice. When they found out how far we had traveled to see them, they offered us cold beverages. How sweet was that!?

Alright, enough chatter, look at the loot!
